The View is a 2017 modern contemporary home in Kelowna’s McKinley neighbourhood by Bercum Builders, the Kelowna custom home builder Okanagan homeowners trust to deliver outstanding detail. Our clients lived overseas during the entire build, they picked all interior finishes in a focused three-week visit and trusted us with weekly Friday update reports for the rest of construction. The home is anchored by sweeping views of Okanagan Lake, with floor-to-ceiling glass and a generous pool deck on a point lot. Inside, custom-cast concrete wall panels surround the TV and fireplace, and a one-of-a-kind hand-cast concrete barn door. Pendant lights over the kitchen island were salvaged from an old ship, then certified for Canadian use and hung from a heavy timber. Construction highlights included craning the pool from the lower road and detailing the staircase, which looks simple but required extensive structural planning. The owners’ first walkthrough, after months of remote collaboration, was a defining “this is everything we dreamed of” moment.
