Net Zero Home is a certified Net Zero home in the Okanagan and a milestone project for Bercum Builders, a Kelowna custom home builder committed to building both performance and personality into the homes we deliver. Sitting right on Okanagan Lake, this 3,263 sq ft modern beach house was designed to break the standard Net Zero stereotype, instead of a square box, the home delivers a distinctly livable layout while still hitting demanding efficiency targets. The build features full 2×10 wall framing with deep-cell insulation, an ICF foundation, a high-performance building envelope, and a roof-mounted solar array. The clients’ electrical bill runs roughly under $10 for the entire year. Despite the lakefront wind exposure, the interior stays comfortable in every season, cool in summer with minimal load, warm in winter with very little input. Gas serves only the cooktop and fireplace; everything else is electric and offset by solar.
